TALLAHASSEE, FLA. — On June 18, 2019, the Florida Department of Education awarded Alsco’s Tallahassee branch with the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award for Leon County. The award was given in honor of Alsco’s deep support and commitment to Florida’s education system. In a letter to Alsco, Bethany Swonson, executive director of the Florida Education Foundation, stated, “You have provided innovative learning opportunities in your community, and our students’ academic performance is evidence that your collaborative efforts are paying off.” Swonson also noted that Florida’s graduation rate is at an all-time high of 86.1 percent, an increase of 26.9 percentage points since 2003-04. “Improving the educational opportunities of our community is important to all of us at Alsco Tallahassee,” said Tony Brown, general manager of the Alsco Tallahassee branch. “We are thrilled to see that our support has made a difference in students’ learning in Leon County.” Administered by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation, the Commissioner’s Business Recognition Awards are given annually to highlight successful partnerships between members of the business community and local school districts for the benefit of Florida’s students.
