Alsco Supports Veterans with Donation to Camp Hope

HOUSTON, Tex. – Alsco Inc. recently donated funds to the PTSD Foundation of America, also known as “Camp Hope.”

Camp Hope provides transition housing to military veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Veterans in residence receive mentorship from staff and other veterans (who previously resided at Camp Hope), in order to regain mental stability and return to civilian life. Classes in anger management, substance abuse and life skills are provided during the program. Funds from Alsco’s monetary donation will be used to offset the non-profit organization’s daily costs of $100 per resident.

As per the PTSD Foundation of America’s website, PTSD is “a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events.” PTSD can be treated and early treatment is key to reducing long-term symptoms. Camp Hope seeks to educate and increase public awareness of PTSD, while also assisting veterans’ spouses and family members during the healing process.

About Camp Hope: The PTSD Foundation of America (“Camp Hope”) is a faith-based, non-profit organization that mentors military combat veterans dealing with PTSD. Opened by Founder Gene Birdwell in 2012, approximately 60 veterans currently reside at Camp Hope at no cost to the veteran. The foundation runs solely on donations to support daily costs of $100 per resident. For more information on PTSD and Camp Hope or to make a donation, please visit www.ptsdusa.org.
